A Landscape of Forms

The flower vase is one of the most familiar objects in interior design, yet it has remained remarkably unchanged. Conceived almost exclusively as an independent object, it has rarely been reimagined as part of a larger design system.

Pandemic Design Studio developed the Grove Collection as a family of sculptural forms that gives designers the architectural language to create cohesive biophilic environments where identity emerges through the relationships between individual elements.

Unlike conventional vases, designed to disappear behind the flowers they contain, every Grove form remains an active participant in the landscape, allowing even restrained botanical arrangements to possess a strong architectural presence.

A Modular Geometry

The modular square base creates a discreet organizational framework before dissolving almost immediately into a seamless sculptural surface that resolves in a circular opening. Visible within an individual form but only fully experienced through the landscape it creates, this proportional geometry makes the system possible and allows independent objects to behave as a cohesive family.

The wide base and slender neck preserve the identity of every form within a larger installation, allowing the forms to breathe visually much like tree trunks within a forest or towers within a skyline. Density is achieved without sacrificing clarity.

From Object To Envronment

The Grove Collection reveals a different quality at every scale. An individual vessel stands confidently as an iconic sculptural object. Small groupings establish rhythm and dialogue

between forms. As the collection expands, increasingly complex landscapes emerge through proportion, hierarchy, density, and variation. Like a city, every building performs a different role within the larger whole. Larger forms establish moments of emphasis while smaller forms provide continuity and transition.

Designing Biophilic Worlds
